J.Crew Regent Blazer: The Investment Blazer I Swear By

I’m guilty of buying one too many blazers since my student days, but J.Crew’s Regent blazer is by far my favourite and an absolute must-have for those looking to up their workwear game. Confession: It was love at first sight and this camel colour is already my second Regent blazer.

Sharp and sleek, the blazer is made from wool with a hint of stretch. It feels insanely smooth and breathable, like that of a suiting quality and is on an entirely different level from fast fashion alternatives out there. One thing I learned from my last Regent blazer was that it fits snug, which is why I sized up this time to ensure winter clothes would fit comfortably underneath. Speaking of which, camel is a classic colour for outerwear and J.Crew renders it in a perfectly rich shade complementary to other browns or reds without coming off as “too much”.

The blazer has a slightly longer length that hits at the hips, giving it the perfect amount of edge to elevate a smart casual outfit. It’s easily paired with a tapered leg and would look especially effortless over a crisp white button-down left untucked.

My favourite thing about the blazer is probably its popped collar. It can be ironed down for a more formal look, though I like it standing as it is to show the strip of contrast grey felt on the underside. You know J.Crew is serious about women’s blazers when you see the gorgeous striped lining with red piping and an inner pocket.

I still stand by what I said about straight blazers and oversized silhouettes being the easiest to style if you’re unsure about blazers in general. But a well-fitting blazer is just so hard to come by, especially if you’re not going down the tailor-made route, and J.Crew has nailed all the details right this time. The Regent blazer may be a splurge but its quality is amazing and will make a lasting addition to any capsule wardrobe.
