Blue Linen Romper: Seeing Indigo in Georgetown, Penang
I’m not sure where my soft spot for blue comes from. Maybe my school days left an impression, or I just like its calming qualities that remind me of the sky and sea.
I hate fussy clothing, especially when I’m on the go, as I want to avoid being hot or uncomfortable whenever possible. So I’m happy to forgo prettier styles for comfortable clothing. I.e. breathable items with elastic waistbands over zippers or boning.
I picked up this linen romper from Zara a few seasons ago and wore it nonstop during all my trips (obviously, that was when vacations were still a thing).
My favourite thing about this romper is that it comes with an elastic band on the neckline and waist. So when it gets too hot and I need sun protection on my shoulders, or if I don’t want my backpack straps to chafe, I can wiggle the neckline up. Then when I’m strolling about, voila! It goes down again in a flash.
The double-layered ruffle sleeves also add a nice feminine touch. And let’s be honest, I’m a sucker for three-quarter sleeves.
I’m sharing this outfit again because it’s one of my favourite finds – and more importantly – I found a similar piece on Zara again! It’s not exactly the same, but it comes in the same soft blue hue and an off-shoulder silhouette, perfect for hot summer days. It’s also 100% made of linen/cotton, which is more breathable and better for the environment :)
