Grey Nuvolato Marble x Copper Nails: Bringing Interior Design to Fingertips

Becoming Carmen – taupe nude nail polish manicure, dark grey marble, copper mirror powder, gold flecks

My nails haven’t been done for months. Lockdown restrictions effectively cancelled my Christmas and Chinese New Year sessions; my last hard gel had already chipped off, and I had grown half the length of my nails. Seeing that restrictions have just eased up a little, I managed to squeeze in a manicure on my birthday so they didn’t have to look so sorry.

I love a veined marble nail (“nuvolato” is Italian for “cloudy”) flecked with gold and fine glitter, to the point that my regular girl tells me it’s boring every time I request one (but hey, it’s something I never get sick of and who knows when my next manicure will be?!) So I let her work some magic on the rest of the nails, and we went with copper mirror powder on top of a matte base for texture and a molten metal look.

One week in, I’m still digging the warm mineral greys and creamy taupes. It reminds me of days when winter still lingers, and spring hasn’t quite set in yet, a little dark with colours starting to kick in. But I do prefer my nails shiny to matte; they are currently a little too wintry for my taste, and I’m not a fan of the rubbery touch. At least now I won’t have FOMO over it.
