Peach Nails: Ripe and Juicy, Straight Out of Justin Bieber’s Song
Peaches are one of my favourite fruits. And there’s nothing more satisfying than biting into a sweet, juicy fruit that threatens to spill all its juices trickling down your chin in summer – I wanted to recreate a nail set that reminded me of the tart goodness.
Despite peachy orange being one of my favourite colours, I was wary that it would make Asian skin with yellow undertones appear sallow. So this time, we steered clear of neon colours and opted for pinker shades that complemented skin tones. We did a vertical gradient across the hand, moving from an off-white to a light peach and darker tones for a hint of dimension.
Inspired by the condensation on chilled fruits fresh out of the fridge, we added 3D gel in abstract shapes before coating them in silver and copper mirror powder. I really think it’s about as summery as it can get. The only downside is that mirror powder does tend to rub off quite quickly with daily wear and tear.
As usual, I’m wearing my favourite gold vermeil pieces from Monica Vinader. I love how they bring out the nails’ copper embellishments and warm tones.
If you’re located in Hong Kong and are looking for someone who can draw quickly or offer home service, drop me a note, and I can also share my manicurist’s details upon request.
