Chloé: My Favourite Equestrian-Inspired Pieces

There are very few designer labels I wholeheartedly love. Something may catch my eye; some seasons are better than others. But rarely would I be head over heels for a brand or feel their branding resonates with me (affordability is an entirely different discussion). Chloé is one of those brands, and it also shares one of my favourite girl names.

The first fragrance I ever owned was a bottle of See by Chloé gifted by my mom — something I’ve wanted to repurchase for a long time. Yet, ten years later, Chloé is still synonymous with bohemian charm and equestrian flair down to the last detail, including their signature brass handles guarding most stores.

While horseback riding isn’t much of a thing in Hong Kong (unless you’re prepared to brave a ten-thousand waiting list or shell out thousands for memberships on top of riding fees), equestrian styles have always called out to me. I adore the right mix of masculinity that turns bold into free-spirited power. If that doesn’t evoke thoughts of tangled manes, swishy tails, gleaming coats of fur, and a clop-clop of hooves against the ground… I don’t know what will.

Did you know that Chloé has been the stepping stone for many of its creative directors before they went on to become great names? Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, Clare Waight Keller, the list goes on and on. So it’s no wonder that season after season of iconic looks were created for Chloé, shaping the Parisian chic and effortlessly romantic style it’s known for.

On a separate note, Chloé has opened its doors to outlets in Horizon Plaza (Ap Lei Chau) and Citygate (Tung Chung), which surprisingly stock very recent and hot store collections.
