B Triple C Facial Balancing Gel

As I edge near my Saturn return, I have prioritised vitamin B5 and C serums in my daily skincare rotation. We’ve come a long way since the vitamin B5 fad came onto the scene, but it is still unrivalled in its hydrating properties. Pack that with a punch of vitamin C, and you have a solid combination for brightening skin and preventing early signs of ageing. Something feels off if I don’t use them at least once every other day, and on those rare occasions when I, for some reason, opt not to pack a vitamin C product on an extended vacation, I always regret it.

The B Triple C Facial Balancing Gel is a potent blend of vitamins B5 and C rolled into one. It’s a viscous gel with a clear, honey tinge, and it reminds me of the NEOSTRATA Enlighten Illuminating Serum, another product on the strong end of the vitamin C spectrum. Its texture makes it tricky to scoop from the jar without it running down your fingers, and I use a spatula to prevent contamination.

For better application, I tone my skin before warming the product between my palms and patting it down in soft but firm motions, just like you would with a face massage when winding down for bed. It’s a little viscous initially but absorbs quickly, imparting a soft, smooth texture to the skin when I wake up. It feels like a good fit for my evening routine in place of my vitamins B5 and C serums and regular moisturiser. Plus, I am happy to report that there’s none of that nasty pilling under makeup we dread so much.

It’s safe to say that the B Triple C Facial Balancing Gel’s quality is reflected in its price point of HKD960. Let’s be honest, Aesop is a premium brand. But also, I’ve never met an Aesop product I didn’t like, and given its multitasking properties, it’s hardly an outrageous cost compared to other serums that claim to do less.

Aesop recommends pairing the B Triple C Facial Balancing Gel with the Lucent Facial Concentrate, a lightweight vitamin C serum, so maybe I should try that next?
